Howard, Richard and Tom forming a dynamic trio.

Another full house this week with all the usual suspects – plus a couple of appearances from friends we wish saw more of.

It was nice to see and hear Howard again, both in his solo spot and a couple of collaborations.

New to me was Paul Young.  Paul first gave us a hilarious adaptation of Eric Idle’s “The Galaxy Song” from Monty Python’s film The Meaning of Life.  And then he quipped that his next song was a new one – so new, that he’d only written it that very evening from notes that he had made following a visit to Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd.

Paul Young – Looking on the bright side of life!

Paul had become intrigued by the inscription on the headstone in the graveyard of one Kate Owen who had died early in the last century.  He discovered she had been the landlady of the adjacent pub, The White Horse.  The song he wrote about her was a lovely tale about what he imagined how her life would have been and from the polished performance you would never have guessed it was the first time he had ever performed it!

Happy Birthday Lynda

With the club having so many members now, almost every week brings the expectation of a slice of cake and a chorus of Happy Birthday.  This week it was the turn of our own Lynda Degney, seen here with MC Neil and cake bearer Brandon.

Next Meeting Cancelled

Just a quick reminder, that this week’s meeting (18th July) has had to be cancelled due to a hurriedly arranged football match, so the appearance by Merseyside duo “Our Morals” is postponed until a later date.

Howard Hadwin

I happened to bump into Josh Cartwright and Emma Runswick (Our Morals) at a recording studio over in Wigan at the weekend where Josh told me that ironically, the team playing in the friendly at Rhyl this Friday are his home town team Tranmere Rovers!

Small world!

See you all on the 25th when hopefully Nick will be fighting fit and back in our midst.

Cheers
Chris
