Emma Runswick and Josh Cartwright, a.k.a. ‘Our Morals’ made a welcome return to the club as our special guests to round off the 2014 list.
Operating as a duo these days the talented couple gave a superb performance with Emma on guitar & concertina and Josh on acoustic bass interspersed with his skill as a classically trained trumpet player, but mainly it’s the tight harmonies that make the pair stand out from the crowd.
Their opening song was ‘Worried Well’ and honestly, Emma admitted to a first ever mistake in this song, it goes without saying that none of the audience spotted it. Then they took us back to the 1980s with Delimitre’s ‘Nothing ever happens’ but some of the crowd were reminiscing about the 1880s.
The amiable young couple did two highly enjoyable 40 minute sets covering Folk-Jazz and Gospel, I do think we will be hearing a lot from Emma & Josh in the future.
The rest of the spaces were filled by our very own talented regulars.
